Pope Francis

Pope Francis ended his visit to Ireland by celebrating Mass at Dublin’s Phoenix Park, attended by roughly 300,000 people.

He begged forgiveness for those members of the Church’s hierarchy who “kept quiet” about clerical child sexual abuse and for the “abuses in Ireland, abuses of power, conscience and sexual abuses perpetrated by Church leaders.”

Louis CK performed for the first time since he admitted to sexual misconduct last year, making an unannounced appearance at Greenwich Village.

He didn’t refer to his past behaviour and although many in the audience greeted him warmly some said they didn’t get to decide for themselves if they wanted to watch his stand-up routine or not.

He was criticised by fellow comedians on social media for this too.

Former Scottish National Party leader Alex Salmond has resigned from the party amid allegations of sexual misconduct.

In a statement he said he wanted to avoid internal division within the party which faced calls to suspend him.

He has denied any wrongdoing and said he attended to reapply to rejoin after he has cleared his name.

French actor Gerard Depardieu has been accused of rape and sexual assault by a 22 year old actress and author.

The alleged crimes happened recently at one of Depardieu’s Paris residences.

The young actress knew Depardieu before the attacks took place and is said to be “devastated”.

Depardieu’s lawyer stated that his client denies the allegations which go against “everything he is and respects” absolutely.

Jonathan Harris has been arrested and charged with the murder of former Playboy model Christina Carlin-Kraft.

Police found Christina’s body after her boyfriend called to say she wasn’t answering her phone and he couldn’t get into their apartment.

Harris was seen leaving the residence through a back door.

He also stole Christina’s cellphone and a t shirt which were found covered in blood in nearby bushes.

Harris had only recently been released from prison for robbery.

Bishop Charles H Ellis III, who led Aretha Franklin’s memorial service, groped Ariana Grande when she was onstage during the event.

He said this to the Associated Press: “It would never be my intention to touch any woman’s breast. Maybe I crossed the border, maybe I was too friendly or familiar. But again, I apologise.”

Images clearly show the bishop’s hand on Ariana’s breast and how uncomfortable the inappropriate touch was making her feel.

Many people on social media supported her using the hashtag #RespectAriana and reposting one of her old tweets about consent but some people unbelievably criticised her for wearing a dress that was “too short”.

Ariana’s tweet from December 2016:

“Women’s choice. ❤️our bodies, our clothing, our music, our personalities….. sexy, flirty, fun.

it is not. an open. invitation.”
