Ryan Adams
Singer-songwriter Ryan Adams has been accused of emotional, verbal and psychological abuse and offering career opportunities as a pretext for sex by several women.

A New York Times report outlined a “pattern of manipulative behaviour in which Adams dangled career opportunities while simultaneously pursuing female artists for sex”.

Mandy Moore described a pattern of abuse, sharing instances of “destructive, manic sort of back and forth behavior” during their six-year marriage.

She added “music was a point of control for him” and that he belittled her music career.

There were also allegations from Ava, a young female fan who was only 14 when Adams began talking to her online.

She said their conversations about music soon turned into explicit sexting and video calls on Skype where he exposed himself and encouraged her to send him intimate photos and to touch herself.

Others claimed Adams “would turn domineering and vengeful, jerking away his offers of support when spurned, and subjecting women to emotional and verbal abuse, and harassment in texts and on social media”.

When they realised that Adams had abused other women they found each other, creating a support system and choosing to “speak out about their experiences in the hopes of protecting others and moving forward”.

She added: “This is the fight of our lives, the fight to build an America where dreams are possible, an America that works for everyone.”
