Gov Cuomo
New York State has amended its gun laws so that anyone convicted of domestic violence will have to turn over all firearms, not just handguns.

Governor Andrew Cuomo said: “New York is once again leading the way to prevent gun violence, and with this common sense reform, break the inextricable link between gun violence and domestic violence.

This legislation builds on our gun laws – already the strongest in the nation – to make New York safer and stronger.

Half of the women who are murdered in this country are murdered by an intimate partner.”

A Boston tax agent accused of handcuffing a young intern in his government car, putting a gun in her mouth and repeatedly raping her last summer has pleaded not guilty to aggravated rape, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

It is alleged that James Clarke invited the 21 year old for drinks and gave her “enough to intoxicate her” before the assault.

Clarke’s lawyer told the court that the incident was consensual.

He was released on personal recogisance.

Andrea Constand, the key witness in Bill Cosby’s retrial on indecent assault charges, has testified that she agreed to a $3.8m civil settlement in which Cosby did not admit to any wrongdoing because “it was a very painstaking process for me and my family…and we just wanted it over”.

Ms Constand alleges that Cosby acted as a mentor to her and when he gained her trust he drugged and sexually assaulted her in 2004.

She claimed she drank wine and took three blue pills at Cosby’s urging, lost consciousness and was “jolted awake” to find Cosby sexually assaulting her: “I wanted it to stop. I couldn’t say anything. I was trying to get my hands to move, my legs to move and the message just wasn’t getting there. I was weak, I was limp and I couldn’t fight him off.”

A Californian court has awarded a woman $6.4m in damages in a revenge porn case.

The money compensates for the harm done by sharing the images, stalking, emotional distress and copyright infringement.

Steven Pladl, the US man in an incest case, has killed his biological daughter, their child, the girl’s adoptive father and then himself.

Katie Pladl reconnected with her biological parents at the age of 18 through social media and became pregnant shortly after moving in with them.

They were arrested and charged with incest in January.

Some of you may have noticed that I missed a week.

This is because last weekend I was in LA to celebrate #icantkeepquiet day (8th April) at MILCK’s Benefit Concert, A Celebration of Voices, which was to raise money for the #icantkeepquiet fund.

It was amazing!

As well as MILCK (aka Connie Lim) there were performances by talented musicians including Dia Frampton, Dresage, Garrison Starr and The Rescues who all performed brilliantly and gave me chills.

Akello J. Stone did a fantastic job of both co-hosting and talking with representatives from the organisations supported by the #icantkeepquiet fund – Step Up, The Joyful Heart Foundation and The Tuesday Night Project.

Seeing MILCK play live was beyond awesome and something I’ve dreamed about and desired for over a year.

I’m so happy I got to be there!
