Trump
Trump, who is facing allegations of sexual assault from many women, has declared that April 2018 will be National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention month.

His signed proclamation urged Americans to “support survivors of sexual assault and work together to prevent these crimes in their communities”.

The White House also said the month would be devoted to further raise awareness and end the epidemic of sexual assault.

The US has observed April as sexual assault awareness month for many years.

This week Stormy Daniels told 60 Minutes that she had sex with Trump only once in 2006, even though he repeatedly attempted to continue the affair.

The former porn star said it happened when she went to Trump’s hotel room after meeting him at a celebrity golf tournament: “And I was like, ‘Ugh, here we go’. And I just felt like maybe – it was sort of – I had it coming for making a bad decision for going to someone’s room alone and I just heard the voice in my head, ‘Well, you put yourself in a bad situation and bad things happen, so you deserve this.'”

Ms Daniels went on to say that the encounter was consensual: ‘I am not a victim.’

Former Michigan State University Dean William Strampel, who oversaw the disgraced USA Gymnastics coach Larry Nassar, has been arrested for criminal sexual misconduct.

He has been accused of inappropriate sexual misconduct and of storing photos of naked students.

He also allegedly failed to properly oversee Nassar despite complaints about his treatment.

Strampel’s work computer contained pornographic images, several of which were of MSU students, and a video of Nassar performing a “medical treatment” on a young female patient.

Keith Raniere, the leader of an elusive US self-help group, has been arrested by the FBI in Mexico and charged with sex trafficking.

Federal prosecutors allege he oversaw a “slave and master” system in his group called Nxivm.

Female group members were expected to have sex with him and then branded in the pubic area with his initials.

Police in California have positively identified the remains found in a shallow grave to be those of aspiring actress Adea Shabani.

Ms Shabani went missing from her Hollywood home last month; she was found over 400 miles away.

Police suspect her boyfriend, Christopher Spotz who killed himself after a police chase and standoff last week, was involved in her murder.

Although the cause of her death is still unknown, the post-mortem revealed that she sustained a blunt force trauma to her head: “Something happened, and I believe it to be somewhat untoward – that there was foul play involved.”

Noor Salman, widow of gunman Omar Mateen who killed 49 people at the Pulse nightclub in Florida in 2006, has been found not guilty of helping him.

She was charged with obstruction of justice and aiding Mateen of providing support to IS.

Her lawyers argued that she was an innocent victim of her husband’s lies and had no prior knowledge of the attack.

Women across Ireland have taken to the streets to participate in demonstrations organised to show solidarity with survivors of sexual crime.

The rallying cry was #IBelieveHer, a reference to the woman at the centre of the Belfast rape trial which saw the four men accused acquitted on all charges.
