New York’s Metropolitan Opera has fired music director emeritus, James Levine, who was under investigation for sexual abuse and harassment.

The Met said its investigation found Levine “engaged in sexually abusive and harassing conduct towards vulnerable artists in the early stages of their careers” and that “it would be inappropriate and impossible for Mr Levine to continue to work at the Met.”

The ex-boyfriend of Binghamton University nursing student Haley Anderson has been charged with her murder.

Ms Anderson’s strangulated body was found in Orlando Tercero’s off-campus home earlier this month.

Tercero fled to Nicaragua shortly after he killed Haley.

Authorities are working on bringing him back to the US.

The Oscars Academy chief John Bailey is facing several allegations of sexual harassment.

The Academy has confirmed it is carrying out a review but has not said who is involved.

Bailey has not commented on the allegations.

Trump’s lawyers are seeking $20m in damages from porn actress Stormy Daniels claiming she broke the non-disclosure agreement multiple times.

The first time Trump has been directly involved with the case, he “vehemently denies” the alleged affair.

Ms Daniels’ lawyer said the filing from the law firm representing Trump is “unprecedented” and “yet another bullying tactic” against her.

Florida has banned marriage for children under the age of 17 after a campaign by Sherry Johnson, who was forced to marry her rapist (a church deacon) when she was 11-years-old.

The new bill also bans 17-year-olds from marrying anyone more than 2 years older than them and without parental consent.

Only one person, Republican Representative George Moraitis, voted against the bill.

Finally, Rep Louise Slaughter died this week at the age of 88.

She was the first woman to chair the House Rules Committee and was a prominent voice for women’s power and diversity.
