Michael Avenatti
Michael Avenatti, the lawyer of porn star Stormy Daniels, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence.

Avenatti called the allegations from the woman who claimed he physically confronted her “completely bogus” and said he was confident he would be completely exonerated.

After he was released from the police station on bail he said: “I have never struck a woman. I never will strike a woman. I have been an advocate for women’s rights my entire career and I’m going to continue to be an advocate.”

Both Avenatti’s estranged wife and first wife issued statements saying he had never been abusive or violent to them.

The Department of Transportation has announced it will create a task force to review procedures surrounding sexual misconduct on planes.

The National In-flight Sexual Misconduct Task Force will review practices and protocols for US airlines to use when handling such allegations.

Betsy DeVos has released new proposed legislations on how schools should handle sexual assault.

Under the proposals schools must let someone who has been accused of sexual assault cross-examine their accuser through a third party, will be able to use a higher standard of evidence to decide an accused student’s guilt, and will not have to investigate reports of off campus sexual assault.

The proposed guidelines also narrow the definition of sexual harassment.

They would apply to any school – from K through grade 12 – that receives federal funding.

Dartmouth College is facing a $70m lawsuit from seven women who claim the school ignored 16 years of sexual harassment by three ex-professors.

The lawsuit says the elite school turned a blind eye to “bad behaviour” by Professors Todd Heatherton, William Kelley and Paul Whaley despite receiving multiple complaints of harassment, discrimination and rape.

The women also allege the professors had a clear bias of hiring sexually attractive women to work in their labs and treated female students as “sex objects”.

In addition to the $70m in damages the seven women are requesting an order requiring the school to implement policies to fix the “hostile environment” and handle future claims of harassment swiftly.
